John 1:3 establishes a foundational truth of the Christian faith by declaring that Jesus Christ is the eternal Creator of the universe. When John writes that all things were made through him, he is pointing directly to the divine nature of Jesus. The Word, who was with God in the beginning, is not a created being but the very agent of creation. Every single star, planet, and living creature exists because Jesus spoke them into existence.
